The One Where I Become A Cancer Advocate.
Sorry (not sorry) to keep bringing up the shmancer diagnosis but it does explain some gaps in my resume and also allows me to humblebrag in an efficient way. Long story short: During my cancer treatment world tour, I wrote weekly columns for a now mergered outlet called Purple Clover. To my surprise, several essays went mildly viral and lit agents came calling. The thing is, I didn’t want to write about cancer once I was done with the whole treatment ordeal, so that was that. I am sharing this work here because I think it proves that I can do longform, shareable content under extreme duress. A last minute pitch is no biggie after this kind of real-life training. I wouldn’t do any of it over again, but the whole surreal experience has made me a better writer, creative, and teammate. (I'm fine now. Cancer, once again, can kick rocks.) If you want to read any of the essays, now living on in posterity via my neglected non-viral Medium page, please do.
